About

In New Zealand, the recipe book Great Vegetarian Cooking by Kurma das was my kitchen bible. Everything I made from there turned out fabulous, and in fact it was the only proper cookbook I had. When I moved to India not long ago, I didn't bring it with me, and so I was seen scouring the internet for similar recipes from Kurma's cookbook, that would turn out just as fabulously. Most of the time though, I could never find what I was looking for, and if I did, it usually had to be altered to suit my vegetarian diet.

So yes, I am and have been a complete vegetarian all of my life. I do not eat any meat, fish, eggs, garlic, mushrooms, onions and leeks, or gelatin either. This can be challenging when I see delicious recipes that contain some of those things, and I have to try and find a substitute.

The recipes on this blog do not contain any of these things. The recipes on this blog are dishes that I have cooked myself, and made necessary adjustments if need be. Kind of like a personal online recipe book for myself... only you can read it and make them too!

So here I am learning all sorts of new dishes, with exciting and different ingredients I've never even heard of, and re-inventing and improving old recipes. Sometimes I find a recipe online and adjust it to suit my tastes and diet, in which case I will always put a link to the original recipe. Other recipes are things I've stumbled across while trying to make something else, or tips and ideas given to me by friends.

Feel free to add any comments to any recipes, or tips and suggestions. I look forward to your feedback!
